Kinja'd!!!

I got an unexpected gift last night: A Gopro Hero3, along with a clip mount and a headstrap mount. I've been trying it out so far, and what I've learned is this:

1. The headstrap mount is not, as I had though, a bike helmet mount. It fits neither under nor over my road helmet. An actual bike helmet mount is $20. The headstrap could be a lot of fun to use, except any place I would want to use it , such as a car show, would mean looking like a total dork walking around with a camera strapped to my head.

2. The Gopro is not a good dash cam. In fact, it is a bad one. I don't much care about this, since I have a GW1 on the way, but I do still want to use the Gopro on my car. In order to make it worthwhile, though, I want to use it on the outside of my car. Which means getting a suction cup mount. Which is another $40.

The whole prospect is very, very expensive. And for someone who doesn't do that much !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I have to decide if it's worth it to have exterior view shots of my car driving in traffic (where the camera could get broken off/stolen), boring videos of be riding my bike on a paved trail, and first-person videos of me at various events, which may not even happen if I value my dignity?

Basically, I'm having a hard time justifying a $300 indestructible camera when I don't do that much that would require my camera to be indestructible.

once you use it a few times you'll want to keep it. It's super duper fun and the angles you can get with it, being waterproof, small, and indestructible, are really sweet.
